Check in on the 1st and 15th of every month for new tips and information ABOUT your FACE. The Importance of Exfoliation (See the easy, healthy Honey Exfoliation Method below!) Exfoliation involves the removal of the oldest dead skin cells on the skin's outermost surface to help maintain the skin. The practice of exfoliation started hundreds of years ago in Asia. New skin cells are created in the skin's lower layer, the dermis. Over time, cells migrate to he surface of the skin. During their 30 day journey, they die and become saturated with keratin. Keratin is important because it protects the skin from outside elements. Too much can clog the pores. During aging, this natural process of skin erosion becomes uneven, which gives a dry, gray and rough character. Exfoliation removes the outer layer to reveal the newer skin beneath. This shedding of the outer layer unclogs the pores, keeps the skin clean and helps reduce acne breakouts. Honey Exfoliation No need to purchase expensive over the counter exfoliating potions or pay an Esthetician (even me!). All you need for an excellent, vitamin rich exfoliation is in your kitchen cupboard. This is the only method I use. Materials: 1 tablespoon honey 1 hand towel That's it! Method: Start with a clean face. Put your hair back. With the Tbs. of honey in one palm, rub your hands together a couple of times to warm it up. Spread the honey all over your face, leaving a one inch circle around your eyes. Start patting your face with fingers and palms, lifting the surface of the skin. Continue for 3 minutes, being careful to cover the entire facial surface. Run tap water as hot as you can stand it. Saturate the hand towel with the hot water and wring it out. Use the hot towel to wipe the honey thoroughly from your face. Honey is very water soluble so it is easily removed. Now feel your face. It is as smooth as a baby's skin! You have revealed new skin without scraping or peeling. In addition, you have experienced all of the benefits of the honey. Benefits of using honey: There are many valuable trace elements in honey that make it both nourishing and moisturizing for dry, dull skin. Honey eliminates yeast and microorganisms present in conditions such as acne and eczema. It also has useful antibacterial and fungicidal properties for oily or sensitive skin. Do this honey exfoliation twice a week for glowing skin!
